OACS and Related Organizations

The OACS has been a non-profit corporation since 1981 and is directed by a board of directors of ten Canadian citizens elected by the member schools in Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes, and two liaison members appointed by the Ontario Christian School Teachers Association (OCSTA) and the Ontario Christian School Administrators Association (OCSAA).

The OACS is the oldest (1952) and largest independent school organization in English-speaking Canada. It is located in Ancaster, Ontario, part of the “steel city” in Hamilton.

The OACS is a member of four other associations.

  • Christian Schools Canada – 130 schools: 25,000 students
  • Federation of Independent Schools in Canada (FISC) – 800 schools: 300,000 students
  • Independent School Associations of Ontario – 260 schools: 45,000 students
  • Christian Schools International – 400 schools: 100,000 students
