Standing Committees
1. Development Committee
Considers public relations, communications, promotion, admission problems for schools
as well as technology and other community-related issues for the future.
2. Finance Committee
Considers OACS budget, pricing of services, manuals for local finance committee and evaluation of financial assessment.
3. School Policy Committee
Deals with all the issues related to curriculum, professional growth, school evaluation, student achievement and guidelines for local education committee activities.
4. Government Relations Committee
Discusses court actions, political strategies, legislative changes, and political parties.
5. Compensation Committee
This committee recommends the salary settlements and conducts surveys among the membership.
6. Coordinating Committee (with OCSTA)
Reviews and publishes the Personnel Manual and Salaries Report. Deals with contract details and policies for local partnerships committees.
Joint Committees
1. FORUM
Executives of OACS, OCSAA, and OCSTA meet three times annually to review organizational priorities.
2. Administrative Council (with OCSAA)
This committee is made up of four principals and four OACS appointments for the purpose of making recommendations to both boards on administrative contracts and salaries.
3. Mediation Commission
This is a nine-person commission, composed of three OACS appointees, three OCSTA appointees, and three OCSAA appointees. It handles contract disputes, acts as a mediator, and has two resolution mechanisms, either a mediation process or an arbitration process.
4. Credentials Committee (with OCSTA)
This committee consists of four OCSTA appointments and two OACS appointments. It considers matters related to the Christian School Teacher Certificate and the professional classification of teachers.
5. Professional Standards (with OCSAA)
This committee considers the matters related to professional development for Christian school administrators, such as the standards for the Christian School Principals Certificate.
Special Committees
1. High School Principals
This committee meets to advise the Secondary Coordinator on High School issues.
2. Investment Committee
This group advises ways and means to improve insurance and pension benefits for the members. This committee reports to the Finance Committee annually.
3. Strategic Planning
This committee reports to the Executive Director to assist him in formulating long-term plans for the board to consider.
5. Office Personnel Committee
Each year the OACS sponsors a Office Personnel Convention with workshops for school office personnel, which is planned by this committee. It also develops and maintains the OACS Office Personnel Manual and OACS Office Personnel Salary Guidelines.
Advisory Councils
These councils meet to consider professional issues and provide advice to the staff. For 2004-05 the following are operational:
