On Friday April 7, an artist from Cobourg, Ontario came to visit the grade 3 and 3/ 4 class. Alice VanderVennen is a fabric artist and came to us with her suitcase full of fabric. She taught us how to wrap different colours and textures of fabric around wooden sticks. Alice told us about how some colours fight with each other and how some patterns and colours pop when put beside other colours. After each child finished their fabric stick they could tie yarn around different sections.

Alice is a Christian artist and she explained to us how each of our fabric sticks looked very different because God made each of us very different and unique. She also said that each of our sticks is a poem about who we are. The students were very inspired. She had a few great quotes for us,
“When you think of art think of God smiling.”
“When you look at art it can be like a prayer with your eyes.”

What a wonderful time, praise God!
