Farm Gate to Dinner Plate Trip for Providence Gr. 3 & 4 Classes: The Ancaster Agricultural Society opened its doors on April 11, 2018 to Elementary Students in Grades 3 & 4 from across the Hamilton area at the Ancaster Fairgrounds.

The event was called “Farm Gate to Dinner Plate”. Its goal was to have students learn about how their food is produced and livestock is raised in the Hamilton area. This event was run by volunteers of the Ancaster Agricultural Society and the Hamilton Wentworth Agricultural Community. Hands-on learning activities supported the Grade 3-4 curriculum.

The students rotated through a series of interactive presentations featuring live animals, grain production, bee keeping, soil and worms, planting a vegetable garden, maple syrup production, dairy production, horse shoeing, technology in agriculture, safety equipment used in everyday life, and antiques – water pumps and corn shelling.

Thank you to all the wonderful facilitators and presenters--our students had a wonderful day! 😀🐄🐖🐝
