Ontario Election, 2007 - Final Information Bulletin # 15

ELECTION POSTSCRIPT

Concerns

  1. We fully understand the disappointment of many of you who have put so much into the campaign for justice in education.

  2. We sympathize with the frustration experienced with the way the election rhetoric unfolded and the impact this had on the morale of the candidates.

  3. Nevertheless we are proud of the effort put out by our communities across the province. We have learned a great deal about democracy for future use.

Facts

  4. The Liberal victory has altered the place of faith-based schools in the moral landscape of education.

  5. The OACS will need some time to review the sociological data and the ideological current that this shift represents before developing a new plan for 2011.

Principles

  6. If students receive an education that prepares them for responsible citizenship in Ontario, then they deserve moral and financial support from the government in a fair manner.

  7. The OACS will continue to advocate for justice for educational minorities in a manner that retains the unique identity embodied in the traditions of the school.

Action Notes

  8. We will be exploring new strategies and new partnerships in our effort to deal with the new challenge created this summer.

  9. We encourage all of you to continue your good neighbour activities to ensure that the reputation of your local school continues to reflect your mission.
