Biodiversity: God's Wisdom - Strength in DiversityGod’s gift of biodiversity is a marvellous gift to creation and to us humans who are given the responsibility and joy of caring for it. Using a case study based on a real situation, students consider how developing a parcel of wooded land can affect the biodiversity and long-term health of its ecosystems. They classify the living creatures and investigate their inter-relationships. They take on various roles and learn to make informed and wise decisions about using God’s creation while developing it for positive impacts. |

Matter: God’s Design for MaterialsIn this grade 5 unit, students will see God’s faithfulness in his design of the materials of which creation is made. They will explore the properties and changes of state of solids, liquids and gases, and their importance for life on earth. They will distinguish between physical and chemical changes and appreciate human creativity in developing new materials. By analyzing the production, use and disposal of the “stuff” we make and consume, they will realize the need to be good stewards of God’s creation and will be challenged to make personal changes. |
