Pulleys and Gears: Making Work Better
In this unit, students begin to understand that God has given us the ability to invent and design machines that
allow us to work better. The students will study pulleys and gears, and will become familiar with how pulleys and
gears work in various tools and will learn the laws for how they work. Students will use the bicycle as an example
of a machine that uses gears effectively to make it possible for us to move in a variety of ways.
Human Organ Systems 6: Wonderfully Knit Together
Students study the immune, endocrine, and reproductive systems God gave us. They learn to understand the intricate design of our human bodies and the marvellous ways in which God designed us to be male and female in his image. They learn about and through science and technology as they investigate pathogens through a microscope, and diagnose diseases (such as diabetes) and design their treatments. They learn the principles and skills of first aid and gain a beginning ability to provide help when it is needed.
