DCCS held two food drives, one at Thanksgiving and the food items that were collected were delivered to Homestead Christian Care which is a Charitable organization in Hamilton that serves people with mental illness and another in January where the food items were delivered to Flamborough Food Bank. In February the Primary grades made Valentines for a local Senior residence. In December they had a large Christmas tree in their front foyer, decorated with hats, mitts and scarves, which were then donated to Living Rock in Hamilton. This past Spring the choir sang at St. Josephs Villa, which is a seniors residence in Dundas. The most recent event was Earth Day clean up, where the grade 8 students armed with garbage bags and wearing bright orange vests participated in cleaning up the surrounding area. The class was split in two with half of the students picking up garbage on the school property and on Ofield Rd., where the school is located and the other half was bussed to Millgrove Park a local community park that has ball diamonds and play centres, where they spent time picking up garbage at that location. |

A charity drive called Cash 4 Cans has helped Woodbridge's Toronto District Christian High School donate more than $2,600 worth of grocery vouchers to the Yonge Street Mission. The vouchers helped the mission's food bank during the busy Easter time. The fundraiser took the form of a competition between home rooms to see who could raise the most money. The 18 students and their teacher, David Robinson, represented the winning homeroom, raising over $570. As their reward, Robinson and the students spent the day downtown delivering the vouchers and helping distribute flyers for the mission's store. |
| Community Christian School, Metcalfe | CCS in Metcalfe completed their first Good Neighbour Campaign event last week, with the JK/SK class preparing valentines for the residents of the Osgoode Long Term Care facility. Unfortunately their visit to the centre had to be postponed due to an influenza outbreak, but the flowers and cards were delivered on Valentines day to a very grateful crowd! The folks at the Osgoode Care Centre were thrilled! The school is hoping to have the children visit and meet and greet at a later time. The sponsor for the school was weeklyflowers.com, who gave the school the carnations at cost the day before Valentine's Day (their busiest time of the year!) |
| St. Thomas Community Christian School | Caring for our Community! At STCCS, the school embarked on a year long venture of caring for the community. Nine segments of the community were identified for students to become aware of, pray for and encourage in some way with focus on one segment a month. The desire was to tie together citizenship and the idea that we are all a part of a community and have responsibilities in it. Read more |
| Northumberland Christian School, Cobourg | Forget-me-not GNC! The GNC committee at Northumberland Christian School in Cobourg has put together a GNC event that so that their neighbours will not forget them. Using forget-me-not seed packages, donated by Rekkers Garden in Bowmanville, the committee made packages with small peat pots and attached them to a popsicle stick with a "connection card" with the school information and carefully wrapped in ribbons. The group hopes to gather the school community together at a local shopping mall to be distributed to the shoppers they see. |

The JOY of Carnations As part of our Good Neighbour Campaign at ACCS we are continuing to show our support to Our Community and being a good neighbour to those around us. This Valentines Day we came together and bought carnations to help support Hospice Simcoe Matthews House. We raised $300 for the hospice. Being a good neighbour especially speaks volumes if a carnation is given to an unsuspecting person. Think about who you might be able to pleasantly surprise and warmly bless this Valentines Day. |

| London Christian Academy, London | With recess bells ringing, children playing, and parents dropping off their children, having a local school doesn't sound like a recipe for peace. But London Christian Academy (LCA) is showing just how neighbourly a Christian community can be.
