A Financial Miracle at Community Christian School

Over the past year our Moms in Prayer group at Community Christian School (CCS) in Metcalfe has met to pray weekly, and each week we have prayed the following passage back to the Lord for our school.

"Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you because you obey the voice of the Lord your God. . . The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow." (Deut. 28:1-14)

Last year as our school faced a financial deficit, the board prayerfully deliberated how to proceed. In February 2012 a donor who was aware of the deficit stepped forward and met with the CCS board executive. He presented the executive with his own biblical convictions and some of his own spiritual journey regarding borrowing towards a deficit. The donor challenged our executive to seriously consider not borrowing towards the $64,000 deficit. In his challenge, the donor proposed that whatever funds CCS was able to generate towards the deficit he would in turn match 2:1, (above and beyond regular fundraising efforts, prior to June 30, 2012.  This was a humbling and overwhelming challenge and our board prayerfully proceeded.

The very next morning, prior to this proposal being made known to our community, two of our parents stepped forward with a vision that they had to generate funds towards the deficit. Upon approval from the board, these two ladies set out on a mission to plan and pull together our first fundraising dinner and auction. It was thrilling to see this event come together within weeks of the initial planning. A fabulous dinner was made, silent auction items donated, and the evening finished off with a lively dessert auction. It was thrilling to participate in such a gala event. We rejoiced as the Lord provided through this community event and blessed us with $28,000. Our Blessings Multiplied Campaign was off to a successful start.

Our children at the school joined in and sold boxes of chocolate bars in their communities and at local grocery stores. I am sure each family also ate their fair share of chocolate! A thermometer was displayed in the front of our school hallway.

We were humbled as a number of other fundraisers took place and as our greater community responded to a letter of challenge. Donations continued to come in as we prayed and worked.

By June 30, 2012 we were completely overwhelmed to see a total of $64,000 generated from our greater CCS community towards the Blessings Multiplied campaign. Our donor rejoiced with us to see what God had done. He has since donated the remainder of his promised funds causing our campaign to reach an unbelievable total of $192,000. Our God is an amazing God, and although we sometimes lack the faith to believe that He is able or that He would even care, He longs to show Himself faithful and all powerful. If we are willing to take these steps of faith and obedience, He longs to show us more of Himself. We do want to thank our anonymous donor for allowing God to use him to challenge us and bless us.  Most significantly, we want to thank our God! Eph. 3:20-21 says "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever, Amen.
