Timothy Christian School delivers community service

Students from Timothy Christian School recently undertook another community service activity by preparing sandwiches for the David Busby Street Centre, a Barrie non-profit working with the homeless. It was one of a number of efforts by the school this year to make a real difference in the city.

“Having community service as part of the school curriculum is very important for the students of Timothy Christian School," says principal Brenda Goodnough.

"It teaches the students to reach out to those who may be less fortunate and follow Christ's example in serving others." 

She refers to the Bible verse, 2 Corinthians 9:12, which says, "This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God."

Other community service activities that the students have been involved in this year include:

- The junior choir singing and visiting with the residents at Roberta Place in Barrie

- Participating in Hoops & Jump Rope for Heart for the Heart & Stroke Foundation

- School-wide participation in the Terry Fox Run to raise money for cancer research

- The school's Black Light Theatre group joining Inspire, a Christian concert to support Habitat for Humanity

- The Salvation Army Hamper program making lunches for the David Busby Centre.
