OACS Announces Leadership Change
It is with deep regret that the Board of the OACS has accepted the
resignation of Hugo Marcus as executive director effective December
31, 2012. As indicated in the June Board Report, Hugo had indicated
his intention to retire May 1, 2013. For personal reasons, he has moved
that day forward.
We are deeply thankful for Hugo’s work and leadership, encompassing
almost 40 years of Christian schooling in Ontario. Throughout that
time, he has shown a deep passion for Christian education expressed
in numerous ways ― as a teacher, principal, committee member,
chair of numerous boards, and finally in the last number of years as
a director, and then, executive director of the OACS. As an organization,
we have benefited deeply from his excellent leadership as executive
director for the past three years.
We wish Hugo the Lord’s blessing and strength as he continues
to deal with the illness in his family.
The board is pleased to announce the appointment of Julius de Jager
to the position of executive director, effective January 1, 2013 through
July 31, 2015. After due consideration of various options, the board
expresses its confidence in Jules to seamlessly continue the culture
transition of our organization as begun under the leadership of Hugo.
We are blessed to have a person with Jules’ life experience,
gifting and educational background available to us. We know that under
his leadership as executive director, we can look forward to continued
progress in our strategic initiatives and the challenges facing our
organization. We are confident that the OACS will be well served by
Jules as he brings the experience, love for education and passion for
the organization required of the executive director.
We pray for God’s blessing upon his work as he assumes the mantle
of this position.
The board will continue to inform you of changes as they occur and
thank you for your continued support of the OACS. At this time also
we wish you a blessed and restful Christmas and best wishes for a wonderful
2013.
OACS Board Chair,
Mr. Fred Verwoerd
