Students fasting for 30 Hour Famine
Thursday April 26, 2012 -- Jennifer Neutel
More than 100 students at Toronto District Christian High School (TDChristian) started fasting this morning at 6 a.m. to take part in World Vision Canada’s 30 Hour Famine.

Grade 11 students Monika Hanna, Rawan Mokabel, and Monika Watten are leading the event. The school aims to raise $2,500, which World Vision Canada will use to support charities in India and Cambodia.

Through consuming only water and juice for 30 hours, participants experience what millions of children face daily while increasing awareness in schools, churches and communities about the conditions in developing countries.

The famine will end on Friday, April 27 at noon and TDChristian participants will have a free lunch at the school cafeteria and take part in wrap-up activities.
